Why is training teachers important?
In many educational systems, economics teaching is often constrained by institutional, curricular, and resource-related challenges. Without clear economic education, students may struggle to navigate complex topics and information.
By training teachers, EFI helps ensure students learn the essential economic principles that support critical thinking, informed decision-making, and stronger communities.
By strengthening teachers’ confidence and skills, EFI improves the quality of economics education across entire classrooms – reaching every student and expanding economic understanding more widely.
Benefits include:
- More engaging lessons that make economics ideas easier to understand
- Stronger critical thinking that helps students evaluate economic information and claims
- Practical life and career skills grounded in economic knowledge
- More informed communities shaped by economically confident young people.
It’s about the responsibility of the teacher and the role of education in helping students move forward. This program brings fresh energy into the classroom and new possibilities for both teachers and students.”

How EFI equips teachers
EFI supports teachers in bringing economic learning into the classroom through accessible resources, practical training, and engaging teaching approaches.
Teaching resources
EFI provides free, practical resources that teachers can easily integrate into their lessons. Our Online Learning Center includes videos, lesson materials, and classroom activities designed to make economic ideas clear, accessible, and engaging for students.
Teacher training workshops
EFI workshops give educators practical tools to make economics engaging and relevant in the classroom. Through hands-on sessions and collaborative learning, teachers gain new approaches that help students explore economic ideas and apply them to the real world.
Sustainable ongoing support
EFI supports teachers with practical tools, ongoing training, mentorship, and a shared online learning platform, Moodle. Teachers can access ready-to-use classroom materials, join US-expert-led webinars on topics they find challenging to teach, and connect with peers to share ideas. The platform is available in Macedonian, Albanian, Ukrainian, and Georgian.
At the perfect time—just before the new school year—I found myself in the right place with the right people. As a teacher, the greatest value of this training is gaining tools to spark an entrepreneurial spirit among my students all year long.
