The Liberal Alternative Institute (LAI) in North Macedonia promotes economic literacy, liberal values, entrepreneurship, and civic participation among young people and educators. Through education programs and partnerships, LAI strengthens economic understanding and critical thinking and delivers EFI’s Economic Literacy Program in Albanian and Macedonian.

Organizing the Economics Olympiad
LAI organizes the national Economics Olympiad, a competition that engages high school students from across the country in testing their knowledge of economic principles. Teacher Training Program
The five-day teacher training program held in 2025 focused on improving the teaching of economics in secondary schools. Teachers explored modern pedagogical methods, interactive tools, and practical examples that help students better understand economic concepts and real-world applications.
Summer Schools for University Students
The summer schools provide intensive academic training for non-econ university students interested in economics and public policy. Through lectures, group discussions, and case studies, participants deepen their understanding of market systems, economic institutions, and the role of economic freedom.

The two-day workshops organized in 2024 brought together high school teachers to strengthen their capacity in teaching economics. Participants discussed curriculum approaches, shared classroom experiences, and learned practical techniques to make economic concepts clearer and more engaging for students.
Financial Skills with a Gender Lens
This activity promotes financial literacy while highlighting gender perspectives in economic participation. Through discussions and practical exercises, participants explore budgeting, savings, and financial decision making, while addressing barriers that women often face in access to financial knowledge and opportunities.
ECONLIT Coffee Talks
Informal discussions that make economic topics accessible to a broader audience. Experts, academics, and practitioners engage with students and the public in conversations about economic trends, policy debates, and everyday economic decision-making.
CSE Accreditation in High Schools
The Common Sense Economics accreditation in high schools integrates structured economic education into the learning process. Schools adopting the program provide students with a strong foundation in economic principles, encouraging critical thinking about markets, institutions, and public policy.

The Common Sense Economics accreditation at South East European University introduces students to key economic principles through an academically recognized program. The course combines theoretical foundations with practical insights, strengthening students’ understanding of economic systems and policy debates.
