The Center for education and Development (CED) – our partner in Albania
The Center for Education and Development (CED) promotes economic and financial literacy, civic education, and youth empowerment nationwide. Since 2020, CED has served as EFI’s national partner in Albania, implementing educational programs that bridge theory and practice and localizing Common Sense Economics for Albanian students and teachers.
EFI-supported initiatives in Albania
Key joint projects include the Economics Olympiad, the Students’ Economic Forum, Junior Albanian Studies Days, Open Lectures, and Summer and Winter Schools, along with interactive initiatives such as the Savings Game and Microbusiness Game.
Supporting Students through the Students’ Economic Forum
The Students’ Economic Forum brings together students and professors from public and private higher education institutions in Albania for sessions inspired by Common Sense Economics. With around 60 participants, it strengthens economic understanding, encourages dialogue, and serves as a preparatory platform for the Economics Olympiad.
Encouraging Critical Thinking through Junior Albanian Studies Days
Through Junior Albanian Studies Days, students prepare paired essays based on Common Sense Economics, focusing on government and economic thought. Integrated into coursework, this initiative develops research, writing, and presentation skills while engaging students from national and international universities in academic debate.
Expanding Outreach Through Open Lectures
Open lectures delivered in high schools across Albania introduce students to key economic concepts from Common Sense Economics. These sessions increase awareness of the EFI mission, strengthen preparation for the Economics Olympiad, and ensure wider visibility by directly engaging future participants and teachers.
Download Common Sense Economics in Albanian
Students, educators, and lifelong learners across Albanian can now engage with economic principles in a language that feels familiar and accessible.
Building Investment Skills through Investing Fellows
Investing Fellows is a student-led initiative that combines investment education with practical experience in the stock market. Over a ten-week period, students manage small portfolios, present their results, and are evaluated on sustainability and performance, while top participants receive prizes and mentoring opportunities.
Promoting Economic Learning through Summer and Winter Schools
EFI-supported Summer and Winter Schools bring together high school graduates from across Albania for intensive learning experiences on economic issues. Hosted in different cities, these schools create opportunities for young people to deepen their knowledge, connect with peers, and explore economics in dynamic settings.
Strengthening Dialogue through Business Roundtables
Roundtables with business representatives and professionals create space to discuss the contribution of Common Sense Economics to Albanian society and the private sector. These events promote networking, visibility, and future support for EFI and UET initiatives, including the Economics Olympiad and related literacy actions.
Fostering Entrepreneurship through the Microbusiness Game
The Microbusiness Game encourages students to create and manage virtual businesses while making decisions on investments, costs, and revenues. As part of the Entrepreneurship and SME Management course, this interactive initiative strengthens financial literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and practical business decision-making skills.
Celebrating Excellence through the National Round of the Economics Olympiad
The national round gathers Albania’s top students in a one-day event that highlights their understanding of economic principles and real-world applications. Through examinations, interactive activities, awards, and media coverage, it showcases the value of economic literacy for the country’s future development.
